Default Best Guild?

I already have my opinions on what I think it is, but I was wondering what everyone's general ideas on the #1 guild were.

So here are some of the Alpha Guilds:
The Fianna
Negative Zero
KOR
IVEX
Spirits of War
Lords of the Dead

Well those are just some of the guilds I've noticed to be the best, but I think overall the best is KOR.

Well it's not too hard to decipher if you just look at the top 20 part of the ladder which was saved at the official site...

Rankings don't mean everything, so guilds don't play as much as others. What I meant was skill, not ranking.

The game is based on skill, not how long you play. The rankings do mean just that.

I think you missed my point. Some of the best guilds took a break and didn't play as much this weekend.

A few alpha guilds played more tombs than GvG this weekend to try out more members/it is more fun.

I don't get it. Are you in a top 20 guild? Do you have a personal experience playing all of those guilds and have some insight?

Otherwise, I have to question your rational for asking such a question. For one, it seems like you are trying for a subjective opinion, not one based at all in the guild ladder. Second, beta is over. Once the game is released, it will be a different story. There will be other highly competative, perhaps even professional guilds, that will change the landscape of the top 20. And most importantly, there will be tournaments for RL cash prizes I'm certain, and there is no way the best would pass that up.

So your question, while seemingly in good nature, begs me to question if there is an alterior motive. Is the real reason you ask the question because you want to join KOR?

Ladder won't matter until week 2 at the earliest. Any team on the top before then doesn't have very many bragging rights.

I am extremely impressed with KOR. They started out with what you would think as very generic and plain: 4 Monks and 4 Warrior/MOnks....and they did excellent until Fianna got them. They added a Mesmer and did even better.

Fianna and KOR are the ones that I thing are among the top.

I'd have to say KOR as well right now, but a month after release the rest of us non-alphas will be nearly caught up. I didn't think IVEX was an Alpha guild though, they just have a great team that competes with the alphas.

Best at what? "What is the best X?" is never a meaningful question without some specification of what X is supposed to be best at. If it's "best at winning the ladder", this isn't even a worthy topic for discussion. You can just go look at the ladder and see what the answer is. So obviously you meant something else, what was it?

Best at being a guild, at doing what guilds do? What do guilds do? What should they do?

The objective of any game is to have fun. Any other so-called objectives are just means to that end. So I think the most meaningful answer to what the best guild is would be the one that is generating the most fun for its members.

Now that's a damn hard thing to measure. I picked the guild I joined based on that criteria, but even I can't say for sure if my guild is the best at that...

I don't think you question actually has a sensible answer. At least, not without further specification of the question. As it stands, it's not a meaningful question -- everyone who tries to answer it has to first give it meaning, because the original question is lacking sufficient meaning to be answerable as is. But the answer will vary based on the meaning given.

If you just want to have fun then you dont have to post here.

Personally I think all the alpha guilds need to get a league together with a season and playoff system kinda like TPG, CAL, etc. I would enjoy it a lot more than a ladder system.

If you lack the intelligence to comprehend what someone else has said, you don't have to post here either. I wasn't harassing anyone, I'm unsure why you felt the need to resort to it.

Fun to me is playing some PvE then going and pwning people in PvP. I would love to be able to play some GvG, but my friends in my guild cant handel that yet.

I belive that KOR is the best ATM, but when the servers open I think that the ladder will get much more interesting.

There are, indeed my guild has been debating whether to join one. Whether they'd be any better or not at determining what the "best" guild is is an open question. What's wrong with the ladder system? It actually seems a lot more fair to me.

I've played some of the Alpha guilds in Tombs like IVEX and SoW, but mainly it's from reading articles around.

No, I have no intention to join or apply for KOR. I'm simply stating that they're good. Really good.

P.S. I didn't mean to spark any anger, please forgive me.
